Wow, I'm bad at this!
MUST WRITE MORE OFTEN!

So the January rundown is that I completed the Half Marathon on 1/19, and survived!
Have not really gotten back into the swing of things with running, but have been able to squeak out one run a week, plus 2 spin classes...Then....I PR'ed in a local 5K with a sub 30 time! Yay! for me! AND, won 3rd in my age group...welcome to 40! I'll take it!

Was hoping that race would motivate a steadier running schedule but it did not.

Today, I joined a group headed to the expo to pick up their packets for the National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer, 26.2 with Donna. With all of the excitement, and loot, (I picked up a packet for someone who was not there, and collected loot for them!) I was soooo close to registering and running tomorrow... but then saw Jeff Galloway at the Marathon High booth. It was then that Tif (friend encouraging me to run) and I decided after a WWJD? moment, that Jeff would say "NO!" but i'm still not sure.
So, instead, I came home and registered for 2 more races, with shorter distances....Now, I have to get my butt out there and get some miles in! but dang, it's cold out there!

Seeing Jeff Galloway was pretty cool, I must say! I almost took his picture, but chickened out! What?! lame, I know! I told Tif, we should ask him if I should run or not...then she said, "ya, he'd say no." and there was my answer....I should have gotten a picture though...
Lord help me if I ever see Jillian Michaels, or any other Biggest Loser trainers, or players, for that matter!

Plan for tomorrow: YOGA! because I really need it! BRUNCH! because a girls gotta eat! POST-RUN PARTY! well, maybe, we'll see about that!
We have had an excess of raw sunflower seeds so I thought, why not?

First I roasted 2 cups of raw sunflower seeds in the oven. 350 for awhile...maybe 15 minutes?

These went into the food processor with some flax seeds that I had on hand...and after sometime on the low setting, I cranked it up to high. First, it became broken down like crumbs...then it began to clump.

Next, I added coconut oil...probably about 2-3 tablespoons, with the food processor on low...
This really made it clump up! I thought I was in trouble, but then I added a tablespoon of EVOO! This helped smooth it out! I probably could have added more to make the butter smoother, but I was ok with the thickness.

For extra yum factor, I added some cacao, and a bit of sea salt to bring out more flavor.

The result:

YUMM!!

I spread some on a slice of gluten free UDI's white bread and boy was I happy!!!

over this break, we really enjoyed just being home. we caught up on 2 seasons of survivor, several seasons of sunny in philadelphia, and just enjoyed having no where else to be.

dungy loved having us home too! he loves being active all day, and sleeping all night. of course i like that too!

this week i logged a few days with the start clean in 2013 challenge, including a meal plan, and somewhat of a workout with a friend. that was dana and i cleaning up the yard and burning the christmas tree! this is still in progress...

I will turn 40 this year, and have really up-ed the anti for challenges for myself, as follows:

To run 13 Races in 2013, my first being the Zooma half marathon on January 19th.

To run a 5K or 5 mile distance run before the 5th of each month.

To log my miles for the month of January, participating in the Chilly Challenge.

Complete Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer.

and to eat clean...

I'd also love to get back into my Tracy Anderson routine, after Jamie Eason, as I really believe in her Muscle Design series.

How am I doing so far? Well, I logged a 3.8 mile run today, 1/2. My eating has been fairly clean, as we work on what is already in the fridge. The worst being light mayo, land o'lakes american cheese, and my favorite, Salt and Vinegar Cape Cod potato chips. It will get better once these are gone...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16938918793079929112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5594221548501490104.post-15462163044956750762012-11-14T07:54:00.002-10:002012-11-14T07:57:54.137-10:00not off to a great posting start!!!Let's talk about yesterday....

Made it through the day on 778 calories! Wow! That included a 3 mile run!
Here's what I ate:
Breakfast: GNC Lean Shake - Swiss Chocolate mixed with coffee, twice...to get all the shake out! (btw, if you haven't tried this yet, it's fantastic! and I hate protein shakes!!!)
AM Snack: Gala Apple with 1 TB almond butter (a splurge!)
Lunch: My own Turkey Chili (about 130 calories, of veg and ground turkey. The poblano pepper gave it great flavor!) and fat free cottage cheese, to cool the burn, over a bed of lettuce
PM Snack: hard boiled egg, and red seedless grapes (stole these from a starbuck's bistro protein plate)
Dinner: Poached (fancy word for boiled, which sounds gross) chicken, and asparagus with lemon.

I did my run as soon as I got home from work, as it looked like it may rain...the run was not my best. It felt slow, and it was slower than I had wanted, but just a training run...I know there will be some great, some mediocre, and some bad...so, mediocre it was! I was just happy to get out there and do it!

And then, today...BTW, I'm down to 124!!! only 7 lbs to go!

I'm looking at about a 663 calorie day...

Here's what I ate and plan to eat for dinner:
Breakfast: GNC Lean Shake - Pumpkin Spice mixed with coffee, which curdled from the heat of the coffee, and made me gag! Why didn't this work like the chocolate one?
AM Snack: Kiwi
Lunch: same same, My own Turkey Chili and fat free cottage cheese
PM Snack: muesli and Justin's Honey Peanut Butter (stole these from a starbuck's bistro protein plate)
Dinner: Grilled chicken on salad with lemon for dressing. (splitting the chicken with my husband who's on about the same plan)

We play trivia tonight at the Salty Pelican, which has many temptations, like wine, beer, oysters....Together we'll be strong! And it will be so cheap!!!

Any suggestions for a team name tonight?

After reading several running/eating/vegan/recipe blogs, I've returned to my own.
One of the blogs/google reader things I've been reading started out as a running log...so, I'm thinking I may take this in that direction...a way to recap running, spinning, etc. and keep me accountable to a daily sweat.

Today...Veteran's Day (observed) as 11/11 was yesterday, I was able to hit a spin class at 8 am! What a treat to work out in the AM! I truly wish our school days started way later. We start at 7:30 with kids coming into the classroom. Typically I arrive at school at 7, give or take...which means getting in the shower no later than 6:30...well, technically I could work out before then, but I haven't yet... (shhhhh...I just may try tomorrow with the hubs who has been going to the Y at 5:30)

So this may be amusing...we are in a weightloss challenge again. We tend to start these in the winter, January, and end in May. This time, we mixed it up to tackle football season. We started in August, and are ending either the night before Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving morning...I made the unfortunate choice of the night before...but that may work out afterall... And before we all freak out over the info down below...I am 4'11", currently at 128.4. I'm aware of the limited calories, and have eaten this way before (in July) and survived...I'd be at my goal weight (117), and then some, if football hadn't happened. I blame the SEC and NFL.

Today we are nine days out, and I have 10 lbs. to go...we'll see what miracles can happen over the next few days...

Today's details:
Nutrition:
636 kcal
Exercise:
spinning at 8 am, 414 kcal
